Measuring for roller blinds correctly is crucial for a good fit and clean look. Here’s a simple guide for both inside mount and outside mount roller blinds:
✅ Step 1: Decide on Mount Type
Inside Mount (Recessed): Blind fits inside the window frame. Outside Mount (Face Fix): Blind is mounted outside the window frame, covering more area.
📏 Step 2: Use a Metal Measuring Tape
Always measure in millimeters (mm) or centimeters (cm) for precision.
🔹 Inside Mount (Recessed)
1. Width Measurement
Measure the width inside the window frame at three points: top, middle, and bottom. Use the narrowest measurement. Important: Reduce 1 cm for clearance (some brands do this automatically — check first).
2. Height Measurement
Measure the height from the top inside frame to the bottom in three spots: left, middle, right. Use the longest measurement.
🔹 Outside Mount (Face Fix)
1. Width Measurement
Measure the desired coverage area. Add at least: 5–10 cm on each side (left and right) beyond the window frame to block light better. Example: If your window is 100 cm wide, order 110–120 cm width.
2. Height Measurement
Start 10 cm above the window frame (for mounting) and measure down to: The window sill or A few cm below the sill if you prefer full coverage.
🛠️ Additional Tips:
Check for obstacles inside the frame (window handles, locks). Double-check if the bracket size will affect the fabric width (some brands reduce fabric width by 2-4 cm from total blind width). Always clarify whether the measurement should be for “blind size” (brackets included) or “fabric size”.
